Abstract

Objective: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a serious health burden and its frequency is increasing worldwide. Several complications are
related with diabetes mellitus and now periodontal disease (PD) is also considered as DM-related problem. A 2-way association between DM
and PDs has been reported. The purpose of this article is to deliver the knowledge relating to the association between DM and PDs. Several
researches have been published over the past 50 years in this regard yet more research is obligatory so as to elucidate the two-way relationship
trait between DM and PDs.
